Kashmir, 31 july: The army paid the last respects to the dog, Axel, who lost its life during a gunfight between terrorists and government forces in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday.

Axel’s wreath-laying ceremony was held on Sunday where the army paid their last respect to the martyr dog.

The army’s dog lost its life in action after being hit by a bullet in a gunfight in J-K while being deployed with 29 RR yesterday,

As per the report, the postmortem revealed more than ten wounds and fractures of the femur.

According to police, a terrorist, identified as Akhtar Hussain Bhat, was killed while two army personnel and a policeman were wounded in the gunfight. Axel too was a casualty in the gunfight that lasted for five hours.
