One terrorist was killed in the encounter that broke out in the Binner area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday night, police said on Sunday.
The killed terrorist was identified as Irshad Ahmad Bhat of Baramulla’s Pattan. He was active from April 2022 and linked with terror outfit Lashkar-e- Toiba (LeT), the Kashmir Zone Police said.
“Killed terrorist has been identified as Irshad Ahmed Bhat of Pattan Baramulla, active since 5/2022 & linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT,” it tweeted.
Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were also recovered by the Jammu and Kashmir police and security forces during the encounter.
“01 AK rifle, 2 magazines & 30 rounds recovered,” the Kashmir Zone Police said in the tweet.
The encounter had broken out in the late hours of Saturday evening.
“Encounter has started at Binner area of Baramulla. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,” the Kashmir Zone Police tweeted on Saturday.
