Punjab, 27 july: Veteran Punjabi singer Balwinder Safri, who was widely known for his folk music, left for his heavenly abode on Tuesday. The singer died at the age of 63. Reportedly, Balwinder since April was admitted to New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton, UK due to heart issues. The legendary singer underwent triple bypass surgeries but later went into a coma after facing brain damage. Balwinder Safri got discharged from the hospital nearly after spending 86 days but on July 26, he succumbed to his illness.
Safri’s tragic demise has sent shockwaves across the entire Punjabi Music industry. Rich tributes are pouring in for the singer on social media. Offering his deepest condolences, legendary singer Gurdas Maan posted a picture of Balwinder Safri along with joined-hand emoticons. Guru Randhawa took to his Instagram handle and posted a picture of the late singer, captioning, “We will cherish your music and contribution to Punjabi music forever sir. Rest in peace. Alvida sir Balwinder Safri”.
Besides them, Jassie Gill, Diljit Dosanjh, Babbal Rai, Neeru Bajwa, and Jazzy B among others paid their tributes to Balwinder Safri with heartwarming posts.
The UK-based late Punjabi singer had given many hits songs to the Pollywood industry. He was best known for tracks, like O Chan Mere Makhna, Pao Bhangra, Gal Sun Kuriye, and Nachdinu to name a few. After singer Sidhu Moose Wala’s death, Balwinder Safri’s demise comes as another big blow to the Punjabi music industry. It is indeed a dark time for the entire Pollywood industry as they have lost their two singing gems and the void their deaths have left can never be filled.
