In the most recent ICC ODI rankings released on Wednesday, India’s star pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah fell to second place among bowlers while all-arounder Hardik Pandya shot up a whopping 13 spots to eighth place. This is due to his strong performance against England.
India won the enthralling ODI series by a slim margin of 2-1, but star pacer Bumrah was forced to miss the championship game due to back spasms, which cost him his top rank.
Trent Boult of New Zealand recaptured first place with 704 rating points against Bumrah’s 703 rating points. Yuzvendra Chahal, another Indian, climbed four spots to 16th after taking seven wickets in the ODI series against England.
Pandya received for his outstanding performance with bat and ball against England. He scored 100 runs and claimed six scalps.
After his outstanding series, he also rose eight spots to 42nd in the batting rankings. Rishabh Pant, a star wicketkeeper-batsman for India, was promoted by 25 ranks to 52nd in recognition of his excellent performance, which included a magnificent unbeaten 125 during the final. The Indian combo of Virat Kohli (fourth) and Rohit Sharma (fifth) and South Africa’s opening batsman Quinton de Kock (sixth) all dropped a position, leaving Pakistan captain Babar Azam at the top of the list for batters.
The Test rankings did not change this week, and the only changes to the most recent T20I rankings were small and outside the top 10.
