19 July: A woman in Jammu’s Prem Nagar alleged the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) of not paying her 12 lakh rupees in lieu of the land she granted for the Jammu Smart City project. The woman said that the police and the contractors have been harassing her and threatening to arrest her. She added that her payment is due for the past five years and that the construction work has begun without making the payment.
The woman described herself as a cancer patient. She has said that she won’t let the contractors continue their construction work until her payment is done.
The construction of a footpath from Gujjar Nagar Chowk to Vivekanand Chowk has been started by the municipality, after which this incident took place.
