The Rashtriya Bajrang Dal held a protest in Jammu on Friday against the UT government over the continuous attack on Hindu temples in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The event involved sloganeering against the UT government and the burning of effigies by the protestors. The protesters seemed agitated over the inaction of the UT administration in controlling the attacks on Hindu temples and deities.

The protest was a result of an attack at Chota Manimahesh Ramrachna in Doda district’s Marmat tehsil, where some people on Wednesday evening attacked a lord Shiva Idol. This was the second incident of this type in Doda district. Earlier, a similar incident took place at Kailash Kund Vasuki Nag temple in Bhaderwah.

Every year, nearly 30 to 40 thousand pilgrims from J&K perform darshan at Chota Manimahesh. The culprits, however, could not be found.

The Rashtriya Bajrang Dal’s UT president said that repetitive attacks are being made on Hindu temples in the UT and that nearly seven to eight temples have been attacked till now. He blamed the administration for such mishaps and warned the administration to take stringent action against the culprits or else they would take up bitter protests. He also added that Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha must take quick action to stop such incidents.
