The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the Jammu University, Professor Umesh Rai, on Thursday felicitated the pride of J & K in sports, Umran Malik and Abdul Samad, for taking J & K ahead in sports and making the UT proud. The VC went on to praise Umran Malik for his latest T20I debut in the national cricket team against Ireland and England, along with his impressive performance in the Indian Premier League. The VC also anticipated that Umran would consistently work on honing his bowling speed and play for the Indian cricket team for many years to come.

During the felicitation ceremony, batsman Abdul Samad was also present, and the VC pinned his hope on Samad also making it to the Indian Cricket team soon. Besides, Prof Umesh Rai spoke of the efforts made by the honourable Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha, to promote sports in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The two top cricketers gave their advice on advancing the sports culture in the UT along with that they also promised to interact with the JU students at the commencement of the new session.

Ranjeet Kalra, a member of the J & K Sports Council and teaching faculty at HRDC, was also present at the event and appreciated the efforts and success of the two players. Many other important people also graced the event with their presence.
