Yesterday, Jammu municipal corporation conducted an inspection drive in the local markets in which they seized single-use plastic items from the shops.
The inspection drive was conducted by the JMC officials in various areas of Jammu against the single-use plastic items.
One of the shopkeepers said, “I have only earned Rs 1300 since morning, everyone uses single-use plastic products but the officials are targetting the shopkeepers and poor vendors only. There should also be a stringent action against the factories which manufacture these plastic bags, those should also be banned.”
He further said, “I have been charged with heavy fine of Rs 20 thousand, how will I pay them this huge amount of money.”

JMC officer told that such inspection drives are being conducted to seize the single-use plastic and such drives will also be conducted in our 75 municipal wards.It is being warned to the people that only those single-use plastic is allowed to sell and distribute which is less than 75 microns and if anyone found violating this rule, they will be charged with heavy fine and their shop will also be seized.
