A four-storey building collapsed in Chopal region of Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh on Saturday afternoon. The horrific visual of the house collapsing has gone viral on the internet.
The building collapsed in Chopal market at around 12.30 pm. However, as per the local administration no loss of life has been reported till now . Residents vacated the building before it collapsed, said a senior state disaster management official.

The video uploaded by ANI on its Twitter handle shows the building collapsing like a house of cards damaging the nearby structures.
As per PTI report, the building housed a branch of UCO Bank, a Dhaba, a bar, and some other business establishments. Chief Manager at UCO Bank’s Zonal Branch at Shimla, Ramesh Dadhwal said the bank was located on the top floor of the building and as it was a holiday being the second Saturday of the month, none of the seven employees working in the bank was present at the time of the incident.
The Chief Manager told that one of the bank employees told him that some men sitting in the bar on the ground floor noticed sudden cracks in the window glasses. Realising the danger, all the occupants immediately ran out of the building and alerted other people sitting in the bar and Dhaba, added Dadhwal as reported by PTI.

Earlier on July 6, one person was killed while four other went missing after a cloudburst triggered flash floods at Manikaran in Kullu of Himachal Pradesh. Similarly, two persons were reported missing after a car falls into Beas river at Babeli in Kullu.
