At least 16 were killed and 40 are missing in a flash flood triggered by a cloud burst that hit a camp near the Amarnath shrine camp at Ganderbal in Kashmir yesterday, officials said.

The cloud burst occurred at around 5:30pm washed away various tents causing numerous deaths and quite a large number of people are missing.

Instructions have been issued by the local administration to provide all the required assistance for the pilgrims.

Holy Amarnath Yatra is being organised after a gap of two years due to pandemic ,which began from last month and slated to continue for 43 days has taken an ominous turn and came out as a tragedy yesterday for the devotees who came from various Indian states and neighbouring countries.
