J&K Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a revenue official in Zakoora Srinagar for demanding and accepting bribe in lieu of issuance of revenue extracts.

ACB spokesman said it received a written complaint wherein it has been alleged that revenue official Gulzar Ahmad Makloo, Patwari, Halqa Zakura, Srinagar is demanding Rs. 50,000 as bribe for issuance of revenue extracts of land in favour of the complainant.

The complainant alleged that he approached the Patwari for issuance of revenue extracts of land and the Patwari asked him to pay Rs 50,000 for the same. The deal was later settled for Rs 15,000 as the first installment.

A case was registered at Police Station ACB Srinagar and investigation was started during which a trap team constituted who caught the alleged accused red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe amount of Rs 15000 from the complainant.

The bribe money was recovered from the possession of the accused in presence of an independent witness. The accused was arrested on spot and legal formalities were carried on for further course of necessary action.

Further investigation is going on, the ACB spokesman said.
