The cold-blooded murder of Kanhaiyalal , a tailor based in Rajasthan ‘s Udaipur district has now sparked tension across the nation.
Kanhaiyalal was brutally murdered over a social media post made in support of suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma ‘s remarks on prophet Muhammad. The two attackers involved in his killing have been arrested by the Rajasthan police .
• How the entire incident unfolded
As per the reports , the two alleged assailants walked in Kanhaiyalal’s shop located in Dhan Mandi Market , Udaipur on Tuesday pretending to be customers. In the viral video made by the killers , the unsuspecting tailor can be seen taking the measurements of Akhtari ( one of the attacker) who was holding a cleaver as Kanhaiya Lal took his measurement. Mohammad ( another attacker) , meanwhile, was recording the same on his mobile phone. The assailant then attacked the tailor and nearly beheaded him. He died on the spot. The killers tried to behead him but couldn’t, the police said. The neck was slit but the head was not severed.
After ghastly killing Kanhaiyalal, the attackers posted the video on social media where they can be seen brazenly rejoicing the murder of Kanhaiya. In another video they even threatened the PM Narendra Modi.
• Background of the incident
It has been reported that the deceased had filed a complaint in the police station on June 15, where he alleged, “About 6 days ago something was posted by my son while he was playing a game on his mobile phone. I didn’t know about it. After two days, two people came to my shop. They said – an objectionable post has been posted from your mobile. I said that I do not know how to operate a mobile. My child plays games on it. That might have happened by mistake. After this, the post was also deleted. They said don’t do it again.”
On June 11, the slain tailor was asked to come to Dhanmandi police station after an FIR was registered against him. The one who filed the report was Kanhaiya’s neighbour. When Kanhaiyalal reached the police station, the police arrested him but was given bail the same day. It has been alleged that an agreement was reached by ASI Bhanwarlal between the two parties. Even after this, when threats continued, Kanhaiya made several complaints to the police , but each went unheard .
There are reports that some people along with the complaining neighbours were doing recce of his shop after reaching the agreement. He was constantly threatened to be silenced to death if seen anywhere.
After this , he continued to receive threats via whatsApp calls , he made appeals to the police but the ASI didn’t paid a heed and instead said , “Agreement has been reached, take care of yourself, if you feel anything, tell us”.
Scared tailor had kept his shop shut for days he reopened it after three days and was killed the same day .
ASI Bhanwarlal was suspended on Tuesday for his negligent conduct in connection with this case .

Curfew has been announced in seven police station areas to prevent communal violence . Mobile internet has been suspended in Rajasthan for 24 hours.Sec 144 imposed in entire district, state. Shanti March has been cancelled.
An SIT, comprising of SOG ADG Ashok Kumar Rathore, ATS IG Prafulla Kumar, one SP & Additional SP, has been constituted to investigate the matter.
Meanwhile , all the political leaders have highly condemned the gruesome murder . CM Ashok Gehlot has urged to maintain peace .
