J&K Police on Sunday claimed to have solved a theft case by arresting an accused and recovering stolen property worth lakhs in Srinagar.
Police Station Shaheed Gunj received a written complaint from a female stating therein that burglars entered her rented room located at Dadi Kadal Zaindar Mohalla and stole Gold jewellery and cash.
Police registered a case and initiated investigations, constituted a special team who examined the technical evidence and CCTV footage near the scene of crime.
They said an accused person identified as Younis Ahmad Mir, a resident of Shah Mohalla Ahmad Nagar Srinagar was arrested from Vatakaloo, Chadoora Budgam.
On his disclosure stolen property worth Rs 10 lakhs including Gold Jewellery, cash, Mobile Phones, hand watches, Power banks and a Sound Box were recovered from his possession at his rented room in Buchwara Dalgate.
Further investigation of the case is on and more recoveries are expected.
Police have advised the general public to install CCTV cameras as it helps in solving such crimes.
