With Rahul Gandhi set to appear before the ED on June 13, the Congress decided its top leaders would hold a protest march at the agency’s headquarters and stage a “Satyagrah” against its “misuse” by the Centre.
Congress on Saturday conducted a virtual meeting which was chaired by Jagdev Gaga, National General Secretary and Uday Chib, President JKPYC.
The meeting was conducted on the directions of G.A Mir, President JKPCC; Krishna Allavaru, Joint Secretary, AICC incharge Youth Congress; Srinivas BV, National President IYC in which State office bearers and district presidents participated.
Jagdev Gaga said that the party leadership announced that it will stage an agitation in front of the offices of Enforcement Directorate (ED) on June 13 to protest against the “authoritarian” style of functioning of the BJP-led government at the Centre.
Gaga accused the BJP Government at the Centre of acting in a vindictive manner against party president Sonia Gandhi and top leader Rahul Gandhi with ED implicating them in a “fake” case of corruption in connection with the National Herald newspaper.
He alleged that the Central machinery was being misused to suppress the voice of the opposition.
Uday Chib accused the BJP Government at the Centre of working in violation of the principles of democracy and the Constitution.
“Narendra Modi government has turned the Central investigation agencies like CBI, ED, Income Tax and NCB into puppets and they are being misused to discredit the opposition,” he charged.
To protest against the BJP government’s “dictatorial” style of functioning, Uday asked all wings of J&K Congress to participate in the protest and to take out a protest march from Party Headquarters towards ED office in Jammu on June 13.
