A man was arrested by Udhampur police for allegedly creating a fake profile on Instagram in the name of a woman and using it for blackmailing the same girl.

The accused is identified as Rohit Sharma, S/O Charan Das , a resident of Jaganoo area of Udhampur district of J&K .
The matter came to light after a woman registered a complaint with the Ramban police that someone had created fake Instagram account in her name and was uploading her pictures without her permission in order to blackmail her .
Acting on the complaint , Udhampur police under the supervision of SSP Udhampur, Vinay Kumar and additional SSP, Anwar – Ul – Haq put the account on surveillance and this led them to the accused.
SDPO Ramnagar , along with police post incharge also helped to track the culprit.
The police said that Rohit has been booked under Section 66 of the IT Act , 2000 .
