On Saturday afternoon, a constable on duty committed suicide by shooting himself at Arnia police station, falling under RSpura tehsil of Jammu district. Hearing the sound of bullets, other police personnel posted at the police station reached the spot and saw that a constable was lying in a pool of blood. His service rifle was also lying nearby. The injured soldier was immediately taken to the hospital, but the doctors declared him dead. An investigation has been started into the reasons behind the incident.
According to the information received so far, constable Pankaj Verma, a resident of Pasgal village of Bishnah tehsil, was posted in Arnia police station. On Saturday afternoon, around three o’clock, he ended his life by shooting himself under suspicious circumstances. Although he was rushed to the hospital to save the life of the bleeding Pankaj, his life was lost. The police officers started investigating why he took such a step like suicide. RSpura SDPO Surendra Singh and other police officers have reached Arnia police station.
Information was received from the village of the deceased policeman Pankaj that he was not even married yet. So the family tension is seldom so much that he commits suicide. But there has been no official statement from the police regarding this incident. The matter is being investigated now. An initiative is also being taken to verify the call details by confiscating the deceased’s mobile phone so that it can be known to whom Pankaj spoke at the last moment. After that, he will also be contacted and questioned. The statements of the family members of the deceased constable have not been taken yet. The post-mortem of the deceased has not been done yet.
