Preparations have intensified for the Baba Amarnath Yatra, which will be held after two years. The annual pilgrimage of Baba Amarnath starts on June 30 and will end on August 11, the day of Raksha Bandhan.
Advance registration for the yatra started on April 11, going smoothly. Better management will be done for parking the devotees’ vehicles for the yatra. Anantnag Deputy Commissioner Piyush Singla reviewed passengers’ arrival, convenience, and traffic management plan for Shri Baba Amarnath Yatra. The plan for managing the parking of vehicles coming for the journey was discussed in the meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner said that there is a need to make adequate parking arrangements in the city because of the possibility of many devotees coming for the Baba Amarnath Yatra. It should be ensured that the street vendors are accommodated so that there is no traffic jam on the roads. Plans were considered for commuting travel, parking of vehicles and other facilities.
Discussions were held on displaying water, street lights, and leader boards to inform people about the route. DC said that the price notified by the government would be implemented. Action will be taken against those arbitrarily on the price of essential goods and services. The officers of the departments concerned put forth their suggestions on various agenda items. All possible steps were asked to be taken to make the yatra a success.
