The Court also imposed a fine on the accused and asked him to pay to the complainant Rs 3 lakh along with 6% interest from the date of issuance of cheque till date of judgment which culminated to Rs 1,62,000. In this way, the accused has been directed to pay a total fine of Rs 4,62,000 to the complainant. The Court directed the accused to pay the same to the complainant within a period of one month of expiry of the period prescribed for appeal, or its disposal, if any. In case the accused fails to pay the amount of fine imposed, he shall be liable to undergo simple imprisonment for a further period of three months. According to the complainant, the accused had issued three cheques to him for liquidating Rs 10 lakh. While two cheques were not presented by him for encashment, one cheque for Rs 3 lakh on presentation before the bank was dishonoured for insufficiency of funds in 2016. Subsequently, the complainant filed a complaint before the court, which culminated into imprisonment and a fine to the accused.
