In its continued crackdown on illegal mining, District Police Poonch conducted a special drive in various areas of the district and seized eight tractor-trolleys involved in the unlawful extraction and transportation of minor minerals from Deogwar, Malti, and Khari. The Mining Department has been duly informed for necessary legal proceedings.

During the operation, 10 individuals were apprehended and cases were registered against them under Sections 128/170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

Illegal mining poses a grave threat to the environment, causing large-scale depletion of natural resources and leading to significant losses to the state exchequer. Taking serious note of these adverse impacts, Poonch Police has intensified its drive against the menace and has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards such unlawful activities.

District Police Poonch affirms its firm commitment to upholding the rule of law, preserving the environment, and protecting public resources. Sustained and stringent action shall continue against all those indulging in illegal mining, ensuring accountability and deterrence.
