The annual Amarnath Yatra resumed on Monday after remaining suspended for a day. At least 6162 pilgrims left Jammu for the Kashmir Valley, officials said.
“The ninth batch of 3163 yatris left Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas at 4: 35 am today (Monday) for Pahalgam base camp in an escorted convoy of 127 vehicles,” a police officer said.
He said 2999 yatris left the Jammu camp for Baltal base camp in an escorted convoy of 107 vehicles.
No yatri was allowed to move towards the Kashmir Valley on Sunday from Jammu due to security restrictions, he added.
