Security forces today busted a militant module of Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) by arresting their four Over Ground Workers (OGWs) in the Pampore area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, and one more OGW of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) was arrested from Baramulla.

Police in Awantipora received reliable input regarding the activities of JeM militants in Samboora and adjoining areas of Pampore, which is being supported and assisted by militant associates.

“Acting upon information, police from Awantipora with the assistance of Army’s 50 RR and CRPF 110 Bn conducted a raid and searched in suspected areas of Samboora and during searches four militant associates were arrested,” a police spokesman said.

He identified the arrested persons as Zubair Gul, son of Ghulam Mohammad Ganie of Samboora, Adil Fayaz Ganie, son of Fayaz Ahmed Ganie of Samboora, Basit Ali, son of Ali Mohammad Dar of Samboora and Shahid Nabi Pandith, son of Ghulam Nabi Pandith of Konibal Pampore.

“After questioning of these suspects, Police and security forces have recovered incriminating material including arms and ammunition including a pistol with ammunition and hand grenade from the militant associates”, police said.

“Further, the militant associates disclosed that they were in touch with active militant commanders of JeM in the area and were providing logistic support to JeM militants for propagating their acts and were providing transportation to militants,” police said, adding that a case under FIR number 161/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pampore while further investigation is going on.

In the meantime,  Baramulla Police along Army arrested a militant associate of Lashkar e Toiba (LeT) during vehicle checking at a checkpoint at the Kralhar railway crossing in Baramulla.

The checkpoint was established after specific information about the movement of a militant associate in the area. He has been identified as Faisal Ahmed Dar of Maldera Shopian. “Ten rounds of the pistol were recovered from his possession, and FIR No. 271/2021 was registered at Police Station Baramulla under relevant sections of law and investigation has been taken up”, police added.

The vehicle-borne militants fired at a joint team of police and CRPF at a security checkpoint in the Soura area of Srinagar today, and it was believed that a militant received an injury in retaliation, an official said here.

He said that a team of police led by SP Hazratbal and CRPF men were checking vehicles at Naka point in the Soura area.

“Militants fired at the joint party in which no police or CRPF men were injured. In retaliation, probably one militant received injury but escaped. We are following the vehicle-borne militant,” the official added.

J&K: Terrorist Hideout built in middle of park busted

The remaining terrorists in Kashmir are adopting many unique ways to save themselves from the security forces and the police, but now it is not possible to escape the terrorists from the eyes of the security forces and the police.

The Pulwama and Awantipora police, conducting a joint search operation with the Army’s 55 Rashtriya Rifles and the CRPF, have busted a hiding place built in the middle of a garden in Bandarpora, Awantipora. Terrorists often used to hide in this hideout after committing any incident in the area. At present, with the help of security forces, the police have started a search operation in the surrounding areas, demolishing the hideouts of the terrorists. Other details are awaited.

Now the number of active terrorists in Kashmir has remained negligible. This is why the anger of Pakistan across the border has increased. It is well known that Pakistan encourages terrorists in India. Training camps have also been opened for terrorists across the border in Pakistan. Now that the number of terrorists has been reduced considerably, terrorists are engaged in making targets killed with their weapons to register their presence. However, the security forces and the Jammu and Kashmir Police are fully active in thwarting this nefarious design of the terrorists.

Won’t let in leaders who left party and now willing to return: Mehbooba Mufti

Published

PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday said she is not taking back those leaders who have deserted the party even though many of them are willing to return.

Dozens of senior PDP leaders, including former ministers and legislators, left the party after the BJP withdrew its support to the Mehbooba-led coalition government in July 2018, and most of them joined the Apni Party led by Altaf Bukhari or the Peoples Conference led by Sajjad Lone.

”I have made it a principle that those who have left us will not be taken back. Many of the leaders who deserted the party are eager to return, but I am not going to take them back,” Mehbooba said, addressing a function at party headquarters here.

The PDP organised the function to welcome dozens of new entrants, including supporters of Bushan Lal Dogra, a former minister who rejoined the PDP last month. ”Dogra is like my younger brother and is a thorough gentleman I respect the most.

His case of rejoining the party is exceptional,” Mehbooba said, expressing hope that he, along with other workers, would work tirelessly for strengthening the party at the grassroots level. Launching a scathing attack on the BJP-led central government, she alleged that the ruling party is using Jammu and Kashmir as a laboratory for experimenting and has destroyed the erstwhile state.

”My request to the people is to stand up to save Jammu and Kashmir. If you can save J&K, you will save the country. But, instead, they started destroying the country from J&K,” the former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister said. Referring to the government’s plan to facilitate large scale investment in Jammu and Kashmir, she said,” outside investors bring their labour force along with them while they have their contribution in the apartments planned to be built by the big real estate investors.”

She accused the BJP of launching an eviction drive to retrieve the land from the hapless poor people, irrespective of their religion, creed or caste. ”Under BJP rule, the rich are becoming richer while as the number of poor had doubled with youth becoming jobless and inflation touching the sky,” she said.

Praising her party workers, Mehbooba said it is heartening to see the dream of party founder Mufti Mohammad Sayeed becoming a reality with each passing day. ”I am seeing concern for people of Kashmir growing in Jammu. Mufti wanted to see the two regions stand together and understand each other’s pain. This is happening today,” she said.
