As many as 25 flights were cancelled at Srinagar International Airport on Tuesday due to adverse weather conditions and continuous snowfall, leading to major disruptions in air traffic to and from the Kashmir Valley.
Airport authorities confirmed that flight operations were affected following poor visibility and snowfall, which made it unsafe for aircraft movement. Both incoming and outgoing flights were impacted, causing inconvenience to hundreds of passengers.
“The list of flight cancellations to and from Srinagar Airport for today has been updated,” airport officials said, adding that weather conditions continue to be closely monitored.
Passengers have been advised to check the updated list of cancelled flights and remain in regular contact with their respective airlines for the latest information, rescheduling options, and alternate travel arrangements. Airlines are expected to accommodate affected passengers as per their policies, subject to weather improvement.
Officials further stated that flight operations will resume only after weather conditions improve and runway safety is ensured. Snow clearance operations are underway, and decisions regarding flight movements will be taken based on visibility and safety assessments.
The Meteorological Department has predicted continued cold conditions in the region, with intermittent snowfall likely in higher reaches, which may further affect flight schedules.
Passengers planning to travel via Srinagar Airport are advised to avoid unnecessary travel, check flight status before leaving for the airport, and follow official advisories issued by airlines and airport authorities.
