Youth in Kathua Stage Protest Against SHO, Kathua, Demands Termination
Yesterday a Councillor got engaged with a JK Police Officer. The Councillor has reached to review a protest by the Shiv Nagar, Kathua, over the power cuts. The protestors have blocked the National Highway. The police officer asked the protestors to stage their protest off the road and not block the Highway. But, on numerous requests by the police, the protestors didn’t leave the road then the police started dragging the protestors from the road.
On Saturday, the youngsters of Kathua protested against Kathua Police and blocked the road. According to the youngsters, the SHO has misbehaved with the Councillor. A police party tried to resolve the matter, but the protestors didn’t agree. The Councillor demanded that the SHO apologize for his actions in front of the media or be suspended.
While talking to the media, a Sarpanch said, “yesterday’s incident was very shameful. The people elected the Councillor, and the SHO dragged him like an offender. The locals were protesting only to demand their rights. They were not doing anything illegal. We criticize the incident and demand that the SHO should be suspended. If he treats the Councillor this way, then how he treats the common public”.
We Want Jobs Not Loan: Protesting Dental Surgeons
Last week J&K LG Manoj Sinha announced that the government would provide financial assistance to dental surgeons. “Govt to provide financial aid to dental surgeons to start their clinic. In the first phase, 400 dental surgeons and 800 paramedics will be selected for a specially tailored self-employment scheme”, the statement of LG reads.
The protesting dental surgeons have not agreed to accept financial assistance from the government and have continued their protest to demand government jobs. The protestors said that if the government doesn’t have funds for us, the government should shut down the dental college as they increase unemployment.
While talking to JK Media, a surgeon said, “it’s unfortunate why the LG is not listening to us. We have staged a peaceful protest so that our demands could reach the LG. The LG has announced financial assistance for us, but we don’t accept his decision as if we need a loan, we have applied for it at any bank. We are not demanding something illegal. All we want is that the government should conduct an exam, and if we fail in the exam, then we can’t blame the government”.
“If the government is giving jobs to all other branches, then why not to our fraternity? The government is releasing one statement only that there are no funds for us, but they are releasing funds for other branches, then there must be some corruption in government that’s why they are not releasing funds for us. The government is also saying that the medical department is getting privatized, then the government should shut down the government colleges and also privatize the MBBS surgeons”, a female surgeon said.
