2 Terrorists Eliminated in the Valley, Arms Recovered

Two terrorists were killed in two encounters on Thursday in the Kashmir Valley. Weapons have been recovered from them. The slain terrorists are yet to be identified.

The Bemina area of ​​Srinagar was cordoned off on the information of the presence of terrorists late on Thursday night. The terrorists tried to escape by firing as the cordon tightened, but the soldiers kept them from retaliating. He was asked several times to surrender, but he disagreed. In the end, one terrorist was successful in the encounter. An AK 47 rifle has been recovered from the slain terrorist. A search operation is going on in the entire area.

Earlier, security forces received information about the movement of 2 to 3 terrorists in Chawalgam of Kulgam district of South Kashmir on Thursday afternoon. After this, the Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and 9 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) of the Army and CRPF carried out a joint search operation. However, as the cordon tightened, the terrorists started firing on the security forces.

The security forces asked the terrorists hiding in one place to surrender, but they disagreed. He opened fire on the soldiers. In retaliation, the security forces killed one terrorist. He is said to be a local. Due to darkness, the search operation was carried out, taking special precautions. At present, no one is being allowed near the encounter site.
On Thursday, security forces in Kulgam evacuated several local families trapped in the area before starting an encounter against the terrorists. Police said that even after taking the civilians to a safe place, the terrorists were given another chance to surrender, but they disagreed. After this, the terrorist was killed.

For the first time this month in Jammu and Kashmir, the security forces successfully killed two terrorists on Thursday. Earlier in October last month, security forces had killed 20 terrorists in various anti-terrorist operations. During this, 12 soldiers of the army were martyred.

Driver dead, another injured as lorry rolls down into gorge

A trucker was killed and another person injured after a truck rolled down into a deep gorge near Tulbagh, one kilometre from Banihal town of J&K’s Ramban district on Wednesday.

An official that a truck, bearing registration number JK05A 8209, which was on its way from Jammu towards Srinagar fell into a deep gorge near Tulbagh around 7 pm, resulting in on spot death of the driver.

Soon after the accident, Banihal police and local volunteers launched a rescue operation and retrieved the body of the trucker, who was identified as Nazir Ahmad Sheikh (58), son of Abdul Gani Sheikh, a resident of Bandipora in north Kashmir.

The injured, identified as Naveed Ahmad son of Nazir Ahmad, also a resident of Bandipora, was shifted to Emergency Hospital Banihal.

An official said that the body is being shifted to Bandipora and that the relatives of the victims were on their way to Banihal.

3 Soldiers Injured In Shopian Gunfight

On Wednesday, three soldiers were injured, two of them critically, in an ongoing gunfight in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, reports quoted officials said.

They said that two soldiers suffered bullet injuries as soon as the gunfight started between militants and a joint team of Police and army in the Nowgam area of the district. Later, another soldier was injured in the firefight.

Quoting official sources, a news agency reported that the injured were shifted to the army’s 92 base hospital, where two remain in “critical condition.”

The encounter had ensued after Police and army launched a cordon and search operation following inputs about the presence of the militants.

As the joint team approached towards the suspected spot, the officials said, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight, they said.

Gunfight breaks out in south Kashmir’s Shopian

A gunfight broke out between militants and the security forces in the Check Nowgam area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday, police said.

A police official told a medic agency that the gunfight broke out after the police and security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Chek Nowgam area of the district.

It was not immediately known how many militants were surrounded by the security forces.
