17-yr-old boy drowns to death in Ganderbal

On Friday afternoon, a 17-year-old boy drowned to death in Nallah Sindh in Duderhama of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

An official said that a teenage boy identified as Mohammad Azam Shah, son of Kaisar Ahmad Shah from Bamloora, drowned in Nallah when he was taking a bath.

A police officer also confirmed the incident and said that a massive rescue operation was launched following the incident, and the body was fished out.

The body was later handed over to his family members after competition of legal formalities.

Home Minister Amit Shah Pays Tribute to Pulwama Martyrs

Home Minister Amit Shah, who is on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir, today paid tributes to the forty CRPF jawans martyred in the Pulwama terror attack before leaving for Delhi. He said that the dedication and supreme sacrifice of the soldiers for the defence of the country further strengthens our resolve to eradicate terrorism. Appreciating the security forces who stood against terrorism, he said that today, all of us could sleep peacefully in our homes due to their change. Every citizen of the country is indebted to the soldiers.

Sharing his thoughts on his own Twitter handle, he wrote that today paid tribute to the brave soldiers of CRPF who were martyred in the cowardly terrorist attack of Pulwama by visiting the Pulwama Martyrs Memorial. Your dedication and supreme sacrifice for the defence of the country further strengthen our resolve to eradicate terrorism. Many salutes to the brave sacrifices.

After paying homage, the Home Minister also planted saplings near the memorial. Let us tell you that Home Minister Amit Shah was on a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir. His visit was to end on Monday evening. However, when he reached the CRPF camp in Pulwama before leaving for Delhi, he changed his mind to return and decided to stay among the soldiers for one night. He interacted with the soldiers, listened to their problems and had dinner with them as well.

During this, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha was also with him. This morning he reached the martyrdom memorial located in the Lethpora area of ​​Pulwama itself. This memorial has been built in the memory of the forty CRPF martyrs martyred in the Pulwama terror attack. The Home Minister paid tribute to him by paying floral tributes and said that his sacrifice will always remind us to eradicate terrorism. After paying homage, the Home Minister left for Srinagar. From there, he will return to Delhi.

Woman Among 5 Injured in Grenade Attack in Bandipora

On Tuesday, five people were injured in a mysterious explosion in the Sumbal area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Officials told that the low-intensity explosion took place in Sumbal which left around five people injured.

They said the injured had been shifted to Community health centre (CHC) Sumbal for treatment, from where all were shifted to Srinagar hospital.

The officials said that the police had rushed to the spot to check the cause of explosion.

Shortly after captain Babar Azam and his partner Mohammad Rizwan sealed a crushing win in their Twenty20 World Cup group match in Dubai on Sunday, cheers echoed from corridors, common room of Girls Hostel, GMC Srinagar.

On Sunday evening, loud celebrations were held in parts of India-controlled Kashmir, a Muslim majority region that has been at the heart of much of the tension between the two countries.

Fans in central Srinagar city burst crackers and shouted pro-Pakistan and pro-independence slogans.

New Delhi has struggled for decades to dampen pro-freedom sentiments in the region where most Kashmiris favour complete independence or a merger with Pakistan.

India went into the match with a 12-0 record in World Cups against their neighbours, but Pakistan snapped that streak with a 10-wicket romp at the Dubai International Stadium.

Azam scored a 52-ball 68 not out while fellow opener Rizwan hit an undefeated 55-ball 79 as Pakistan achieved their first 10-wicket win in all Twenty20 internationals by comfortably chasing down their target of 152. The loss was also India’s first 10-wicket defeat in Twenty20 cricket.

Indian skipper Kohli reacted with disbelief when asked if their unblemished track record made them complacent against the arch-rivals ahead of the Group Two blockbuster.
