US , Jan 7 : US President Donald Trump has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is “not very happy” with him over the issue of tariffs, noting that trade differences have created some strain despite their otherwise cordial relationship.

Speaking about his equation with the Indian Prime Minister, Trump recalled India’s decision to purchase 68 Apache helicopters and referred to Modi’s visit to the White House. He said the two leaders share a good personal rapport but acknowledged that tariffs remain a point of contention.

“I have a very good relationship with him,” Trump said, adding that India is currently paying “a lot of tariffs,” which has led to dissatisfaction on the Indian side.

The remarks highlight ongoing trade concerns in India-US relations, even as both countries continue to cooperate on defence and strategic matters.
