Surprise inspection of petrol pumps conducted

On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, a surprise inspection of Petrol Pumps was conducted to ascertain the correctness of deliveries of Dispensing units.

The petrol pumps inspected include Rafiquee Filling Station, Sham Lal Filling Station, Ahad Filling Station Shalteng, Jay kay Filling Station Zainakote, Valley Filling Station.

During the inspection it was found that all these pumps are providing fuel accurately. Besides, seals of DU were found intact. The management of the Filling Stations were directed to follow the Oil Marketing Guidelines in letter and spirit.

Meanwhile, the consumers are being informed that they can themselves check the delivery of DU with the conical measure that remains available on the station in case they doubt the accuracy of the petrol pump. And in case of any complaint of short delivery, the consumer can contact the department on toll free number 1800 180 7114.

Administration allows partial reopening of THESE Shops

In view of upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr falling this week, the District Administration Srinagar announced partial reopening of bakery, mutton and poultry shops in Srinagar.

The order reads, partially permissible activities shall be allowed from 8am to 12pm till May 17.

As per the order the partial permissible activities include opening of retail and wholesale grocery shops (excluding multi item departmental stores), milk and dairy products, mandis, shops and street vendors’ dealing with fruit and vegetables only, bakery, meat and chicken shops.

The order further reads that a complete corona curfew in the entire Srinagar district will remain in force from 7 am May 10 to 7 am May 17.

Meanwhile, an official told that the order must be seen under the preview of section 144 Crpc, and assembling of more than five persons won’t be allowed during the relaxation period that is from 8:00 AM to 12 noon.

Former DDC candidate detained at Airport for carrying Ak47 cartridge

Former defeated Chadoora DDC candidate was detained at the Srinagar International Airport on Sunday for carrying AK47 cartridge in her bag.

The woman was identified as Shabeena Akther W/O Muneer Ahmad Bhat R/O Hayatpora, Chadoora. She was residing in Hotel Mareen Resort Humhamma, and was traveling from Srinagar to Chandigarh by Indigo flight 6E 6041.

According to reports, while Shabeena went to take off the flight, an Ak47 cartridge was recovered from her 18 month old child’s handbag in the X-ray machine while checking.

After the incident, the accused was arrested by the Humhamma Police and detained for interrogation but was set free after initial questioning.

“It is believed that her kid would have kept it in the bag as a playful act as they are residing in secured zone at Hotel Meeran.” an official said

On the occasion of Shab e Qadr follow these guidelines.

On Sunday Muslims across the country celebrated Shab e Qadr. Amid the rising cases of coronavirus, prayers were suspended at many famous Masjids in the country and people offered prayers either at their homes or at local masjids.

Islamic scholars had appealed to Muslims to adhere to safety guidelines and adopt pandemic SOPs in letter and spirit. Muslim Wakf Board also suspended prayers in masjids and shrines affiliated with Muslim Wakf Board. On May 1 this year, the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board announced the suspension of regular prayers for time being at the masjids and shrines affiliated to it in Jammu and Kashmir as a preventive measure to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Otherwise, on this occasion, the biggest meeting was traditionally witnessed at Hazratbal shrine Srinagar and Jamia Masjid where thousands of people would join special prayers during the night.

The night marks the revelation of the Holy Quran to the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). This holy night is considered the most blessed of all the nights in Islam. Muslims will observe the night-long prayers at local masjids. During this night, Muslims spend most of the time reciting Quran and offering special night-long prayers.
