Srinagar , Jan 17 : Srinagar continues to experience an extended dry spell, with much-needed snowfall and rainfall yet to reach the plains, raising concerns across the Kashmir Valley. While the higher reaches and hilly areas have received intermittent snowfall, providing some relief to mountainous regions, the low-lying and urban areas of Srinagar remain largely dry.
The prolonged absence of precipitation has resulted in falling water levels in rivers and reservoirs, worsening air pollution, putting stress on agriculture and horticulture, and reducing soil moisture. Residents and experts have warned that if the dry conditions continue, they could negatively affect drinking water supply, winter crops, and the overall ecological balance in the region.
