Srinagar ,Jan 9 : Srinagar is bracing for a colder night as minimum temperatures across the Kashmir Valley are expected to drop further, according to the Meteorological Department.
Director Meteorology, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, said the weather will remain dry over the next few days, while sub-zero temperatures are likely to intensify, particularly during the night. Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of –6.0°C today, and the mercury is expected to fall even lower tomorrow night, marking one of the coldest phases of the season so far.
He added that night temperatures may begin to show a gradual improvement from Sunday onwards, though overall weather conditions are expected to stay dry, with no significant rainfall or snowfall in the forecast.
The prolonged cold and dry spell is likely to increase the chill across the Valley, impacting daily life. Water supply lines, road conditions, and routine movement may be affected, especially during early morning and late evening hours. Authorities have advised people to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the extreme cold.
