Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, on Monday announced the constitution of the Panel of Chairmen for the ongoing Budget Session of the House, which commenced today.
The Speaker nominated three senior legislators to the Panel of Chairmen — MLA Eidgah Mubarak Gul, MLA Samba Surjeet Singh Slathia, and MLA Bandipora Nizamuddin Bhat. The announcement was made at the outset of the Assembly proceedings, in accordance with the established parliamentary conventions.
The Panel of Chairmen plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the House. Members of the panel are entrusted with the responsibility of presiding over the Assembly proceedings in the absence of the Speaker, maintaining order and decorum, and facilitating legislative business during sittings.
Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather expressed confidence in the experience and parliamentary acumen of the nominated members, stating that their presence would contribute to effective conduct of the Budget Session. He emphasized that the panel reflects a balanced representation of regions and legislative experience, which is vital for the orderly functioning of the Assembly.
The Budget Session is considered one of the most significant sessions of the Legislative Assembly, as it involves detailed discussions on financial proposals, demands for grants, and policy priorities of the government.
