Srinagar, Jan 26: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary on Monday praised the country’s security forces for their strong morale and underscored their growing responsibilities, particularly in combating drug abuse and protecting youth from addiction.
Speaking at the 77th Republic Day function at Bakshi Stadium, Choudhary paid tribute to the Army, police, and other security personnel, saying their sacrifices allow citizens to live in peace.
He stated that Pakistan had caused “immense suffering” in Jammu and Kashmir and had repeatedly tried to disrupt peace and harm tourism in the region.
“Pakistan tried to damage Kashmir and its tourism. Our people and security forces will never allow these attempts to succeed,” he said.
Choudhary added that while Jammu and Kashmir had faced difficult periods in the past, it has now progressed on the path of development. He described the current situation in the Union Territory as peaceful and invited tourists from across India and abroad to visit Kashmir.
“The valleys of Kashmir are ready to welcome tourists. Visitors will find a home-like environment here,” he said.
He also highlighted the significance of January 26, noting that the Constitution came into force on this day in 1950, establishing India as a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic.
