Thousands of Posts Advertised, Results Still Pending
Opposition Questions Delay as Govt Admits Zero Final Selections by JKSSB

Srinagar, Feb 9: IShfaq Gowhar
The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Monday informed the Assembly that no selections have been finalised so far by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) for posts advertised under the revised reservation policy implemented in March 2024, even though more than 10,300 posts have already been advertised.

The information was shared in a reply to Starred Assembly Question No. 586, tabled by Pulwama MLA Waheed-ur-Rehman Para, seeking details of recruitment notifications, selections under open and reserved categories, and revenue collected as application fees.
The government stated that JKSSB has issued multiple advertisement notifications after March 2024, but selections are still at different stages including written examinations, document verification and selection processes, and are yet to be finalised. As such, no category-wise or division-wise selections have been made by JKSSB under the new reservation framework.

However, the government clarified that the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has made selections under the revised policy, details of which have been provided in Annexure-C. It was further stated that JKPSC conducts recruitment only for UT-cadre Gazetted posts, and therefore division- or district-wise selection data does not apply to the Commission.

Providing notification-wise details, the government said that over 10,313 posts were advertised by JKSSB between July 2024 and December 2025 through 15 separate notifications, covering UT, divisional and district cadre posts. Major advertisements included 4,002 posts in July 2024, 1,815 posts in December 2025, and several mid-sized notifications throughout 2025.
JKPSC advertisements during this period included posts in Education, Health & Medical Education, Law, Home, General Administration and Allied Departments, covering positions such as Lecturers, Medical Officers, Assistant Professors, Veterinary Assistant Surgeons, Prosecuting Officers and KAS officers.

On revenue, the government disclosed that during the last two financial years, recruitment agencies collected a substantial amount as application fees. In 2023-24, JKPSC collected ₹7.39 crore, while JKSSB collected ₹7.09 crore. In 2024-25, the figures rose sharply, with JKPSC collecting ₹10.50 crore and JKSSB collecting ₹23.88 crore.

The disclosures have added fuel to the political debate over delays in recruitment, implementation of the new reservation policy, and the financial burden on job aspirants, with opposition members demanding transparency, timely selections and a review of recruitment practices in Jammu and Kashmir.
