Jammu, Jan 2: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has formally discontinued the old syllabus that was earlier applicable to failure and re-appear students of Classes 10, 11, and 12, bringing an end to all remaining examination opportunities under the previous scheme of studies.
According to Board officials, students who failed to clear examinations under the old syllabus had already been granted multiple chances over the past few years in line with existing regulations. However, the syllabus has now outlived its prescribed validity period, and no further examinations will be conducted under the discontinued course structure.
In an official notification issued by JKBOSE, candidates still falling under the old scheme have been advised to immediately switch over to the new syllabus and prepare accordingly for the upcoming Annual Private and Bi-Annual examinations, scheduled to be held later this year after the conclusion of summer zone examinations and declaration of annual results.
The Board clarified that the decision has been taken strictly as per academic regulations and examination reforms aimed at ensuring uniformity and timely progression within the education system. The notification has been issued well in advance to provide sufficient time to affected candidates to realign their preparation with the revised syllabus for examinations from 2026 onwards.
JKBOSE further noted that the number of students who are yet to qualify under the old scheme is insignificant, and continuation of the outdated syllabus is no longer academically or administratively viable.
Students have been advised to consult official JKBOSE resources, subject-wise syllabi, and guidelines to avoid any confusion regarding eligibility or examination patterns under the new scheme.
