Jammu , Jan 20 : Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary has launched a strong political attack on PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti over her demand for creating separate divisions in Pir Panjal and Chenab Valley.

Choudhary alleged that such statements echo Pakistan’s long-standing agenda of fragmenting Jammu and Kashmir. He said the debate around dividing the region would not have emerged had Mehbooba Mufti’s party not aligned with the BJP in the past. Stressing unity, he said Jammu and Kashmir must remain intact and warned against using regional divisions for political mileage.

Shifting focus to governance, the Deputy Chief Minister underlined that the real issue is not division but the restoration of full statehood. He said Jammu and Kashmir currently lacks complete administrative and police control, which has weakened governance and delayed development. Choudhary stressed that without statehood, effective decision-making, security management, and fair distribution of funds remain difficult.

He also highlighted shortcomings in basic services in remote and far-flung areas, including electricity and infrastructure. Taking a dig at the BJP, he said promises made in the past were not fulfilled. Choudhary assured that the present government is committed to delivering on development goals over the next five years.

Concluding his remarks, the Deputy Chief Minister called for political discipline and unity within party ranks, saying strong organisation and accountability are essential to safeguard Jammu and Kashmir’s interests and ensure genuine development on the ground.
