Srinagar, Jan 17: The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway remained open for two-way traffic on Saturday, but commuters faced heavy congestion at several points along the route.

Traffic officials said jams were reported at multiple stretches due to high vehicle volumes and frequent overtaking, particularly at narrow and sensitive sections, causing delays for both passengers and goods carriers.

The Traffic Police advised motorists to follow lane discipline, maintain safe distances, and avoid unnecessary overtaking, which disrupts traffic flow and increases accident risks on the mountainous highway. Drivers were urged to cooperate with traffic personnel to ensure smoother and safer movement along the route.
