Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise SunRisers Hyderabad on Saturday announced that Kane Williamson will be taking over from David Warner as the captain of the side for the remainder of the 2021 season.
SunRisers Hyderabad is currently at the bottom of the table with just 2 points from six games.
The franchise has also hinted that there would be a change in the playing XI for their next game and there would be definitely a change in the overseas set of players and it may be hinting at Warner sitting out the match against Rajasthan Royals.
“SunRisers Hyderabad would like to announce that Kane Williamson will be taking over the captaincy for tomorrow’s match and for the remainder of IPL 2021. The team management has also made the decision that they will be changing their overseas combination for tomorrow’s match against Rajasthan Royals,” SRH said in an official statement.
“This decision has not come lightly as the management respects the enormous impact David Warner has had for the franchise over a number of years. As we face the remainder of the season we are sure David will continue to help us strive for success both on and off the field,” it added.
SRH will next take on Rajasthan Royals on Sunday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The side had last suffered a seven-wicket loss against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni shows he is a captain off the field as well.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, former captain of the Indian Cricket team and currently captaining the IPL team Chennai Super Kings once again proved why he’s the kindest of all.
As the Indian Premiere League 2021 got postponed due to some players testing positive, all the players of the League are currently being sent to their respective homes. The International players of all teams are travelling through Chartered flights for safe travel.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni proves why he’s the greatest.
According to sources, MS Dhoni told the management that the foreign players and support staff should be given the first preference to leave for their houses.
Dhoni in fact told that he would be last person to leave the Hotel in Delhi (where the team was staying) to ensure everyone leaves safely.
“Mahi bhai said that he will be the last person to leave the hotel. He wanted foreigners to leave first, then the Indian players. He will be taking the last flight tomorrow when everyone reaches their home safe and secure,” a member of CSK was quoted
Mahendra Singh Dhoni once again proved why he deserves to be the Captain of his team – because he leads the team like a CAPTAIN.
Meanwhile, Indian Captain Virat Kohli travelled to Mumbai today. The english men including Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Sam Billings, Chris Woakes, Moeen Ali, and Jason Roy landed in London to begin a 10-day quarantine before heading to their respective homes while Eoin Morgan, Dawid Malan and Chris Jordan are expected to board flights in the next 24 hours.

IPL 2021 suspended due to rising COVID-19 cases
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday suspended the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, a decision taken after a number of COVID-19 cases emerged in the bio-bubble.
BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla confirmed the same to news agency ANI. “IPL has been suspended, we will see whether we can reschedule it. It is not cancelled. It is just suspended for now,” the official said.
The decision was taken after Delhi Capitals spinner Amit Mishra and Sunrisers Hyderabad wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha on Tuesday tested positive for the virus.
Both the members were part of the ongoing IPL and SRH were scheduled to take on defending champions Mumbai Indians on Tuesday evening.
Meanwhile, three members of the Chennai Super Kings contingent tested positive for the virus on Monday, which included CSK bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji.
Two Kolkata Knight Riders players – Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier – also tested positive for the novel coronavirus despite the event taking place inside a robust bio-bubble.
As per reports, it is believed that Chakravarthy, who recently had exited the bio-bubble for shoulder scans via a green channel, may have contracted the virus first.
IPL 2021: RCB Vs KKR match rescheduled

As per a report in ESPNcricinfo, the step was taken after two players of KKR tested positive former Covid-19.
The report confirmed that spinner Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier have contracted the virus. The report mentioned that the spinner had left the bio-bubble recently via an official green channel for scans on his shoulders.
Apart from the duo other KKR members have returned negative for the test. However, the KKR members are currently under self isolation, putting their contest against Virat Kohli’s RCB in doubt.
No official confirmation has been released by the BCCI or either of the franchise in this regard.
Meanwhile, this is the first time in the season when a member has tested positive despite being in the IPL bio-bubble.
Ahead of IPL 2021, Delhi Capitals’ Axar Patel and KKR’s Nitish Rana had tested positive for the virus. However, the duo have recovered well and are currently fulfiling their duties for their respective franchises.
