Srinagar, Dec 19: The Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet in a fake Railway recruitment scam, booking three accused for their alleged involvement in cheating and forgery. The chargesheet in FIR No. 08/2025 has been submitted before the Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Beerwah, Budgam, under Sections 420, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC.
The accused have been identified as Abdul Hamid Sheikh of Chewdara, Beerwah; Adil Shah of Sonwar, Srinagar, presently residing at Zewan; and Mufti Ghulam Hassan Kumar of Hib-Dangerpora, Sopore, currently living at Rutsuna, Beerwah.
The case was registered following a written complaint alleging that Abdul Hamid Sheikh and Adil Shah provided fake appointment letters claiming to be issued by the Railway Recruitment Board, New Delhi. The forged letters carried fabricated seals and signatures of senior railway officials.
During the investigation, officials found that the accused had conspired to lure victims with promises of government jobs and extracted large sums of money. Verification confirmed that the appointment letters were fake and forged.
The probe also revealed the involvement of the complainant, Mufti Ghulam Hassan Kumar, who was found to have taken money from other victims on similar false promises and issued fake job orders himself. Investigators established his active role in the conspiracy along with the other accused.
Based on the evidence collected, the final report under Section 173 CrPC has been submitted to the court for judicial proceedings. Crime Branch Kashmir said it remains committed to curbing economic offences and protecting the public from fraudulent job rackets.
