Jammu, Jan 2: Jammu and Kashmir Police have initiated a 14-day preliminary enquiry after a video surfaced showing a Kashmiri cricketer displaying a Palestinian logo on his helmet while playing cricket in the KC Door area of Muthi.
The player has been identified as Furqan Ul Haq, son of Tajamul Hussain Bhat, from Tangipuna in Pulwama district.
Authorities said the enquiry, conducted under Section 173(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita at Police Station Domana, will investigate the circumstances of the incident, assess the intent behind the act, examine the individual’s background, and check for any potential linkages. The step comes in view of the sensitivity of the matter and its possible implications for public order.
