Jammu , Jan 9 : Security forces recovered an arms consignment believed to have been dropped by a drone from across the border near the International Border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.
Officials said the seized material included two pistols, three magazines, 16 rounds of ammunition and one grenade. The recovery comes at a time when security has been tightened across the region ahead of Republic Day celebrations to prevent any attempts at disruption.
According to officials, a joint team of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a search operation in the Paloora village area of Ghagwal late Friday night. The operation was initiated after specific inputs about suspicious drone movement from across the border.
The seized arms have been taken into custody for further investigation, and efforts are underway to trace those involved in the cross-border smuggling attempt.
