Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deep shock over death of former Union Minister and veteran socialist leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, saying his demise caused had huge void in politics.
Mr Modi, paid rich tributes to Mr Singh before formal online inauguration of Durgapur-Banka
section of Paradip–Muzaffarpur LPG pipeline, LPG bottling plants at Banka and East
Champaran, in a function which he addressed through video conferencing.
Prime Minister while expressing his shock over demise of Mr Singh, said he had worked
hard for poor and oppressed in his long political career. He had spent his life in the way as
he believed in principle of simplicity and justice to underprivileged.
Mr Modi recalled his association with Mr Singh, saying he used to meet him when he was
Chief Minister of Gujarat and Mr Singh was Union Minister. He also recalled those days when
he used to participate in TV debates with Mr Singh on several issues.
Prime Minister said that Mr Singh had written several letters in his last lap of life which
indicated the fact that he was feeling uncomfortable in the party, he was associated with.
Mr Singh in his letter to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, had requested him for some
development works other issues which should be given due attention and CM should take
steps for fulfilling the wishes of departed leader, he requested to Mr Kumar.
Mr Modi said that Mr Singh was being treated in All India Institute of Medical Sciences,
New Delhi for post Covid care and and he was confident that Mr Singh would recover from
his illness. He was deeply shocked when when it was informed to him just before the the
function that Mr Singh had passed away, he stated.
