Jammu Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a robust revival in tourism during 2025, recording over one crore seventy-seven lakh tourist arrivals, according to official data placed before the Legislative Assembly. Government figures show that more than thirty-six thousand international tourists visited the Union Territory, while the remaining footfall comprised domestic travellers, reflecting sustained national and global interest in the region. Responding to queries in the House, the government said no fixed targets have been set for tourist arrivals in 2026. However, it emphasised that continuous promotional efforts, infrastructure upgrades, and policy support are being undertaken to boost tourism growth. On the issue of international flights from Srinagar, the government clarified that the airport is fully equipped with immigration, customs, and security infrastructure. The resumption of international operations, it said, will depend on the commercial decisions of airlines. Highlighting community-based tourism, the government described the Home Stay Programme as successful, noting that it has generated local employment, increased accommodation capacity, and strengthened public participation. Authorities said the scheme is likely to be expanded to other potential destinations. Officials added that awareness drives, capacity-building measures, and inter-departmental coordination are being strengthened to address existing challenges and further develop Jammu and Kashmir’s tourism sector.
