Jammu, Feb 3: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLA from Budgam, Aga Syed Muntazir, on Tuesday said that Budgam has been deliberately turned into an “abnormal constituency” where no meaningful development has taken place, and vowed to use his position in the Assembly to restore the dignity of the people.

Speaking to reporters outside the Assembly complex in Jammu, Aga Syed Muntazir said Budgam’s condition reflects decades of neglect.

“Everyone knows the condition of Budgam and how it has been made an abnormal constituency, where not even basic work has been done. The dignity of the people has been trampled upon for the last 40 years. Now I will make every effort to restore that dignity. I will use this House to ensure that the honour of Budgam’s people, which was taken away in the name of honesty, is restored at all costs,” he said.

Responding to criticism from the National Conference, Muntazir said the PDP’s focus has always been on public welfare rather than political confrontation.

“Our party’s manifesto has always been about making the lives of the people of Jammu and Kashmir easier. That is the direction we are working in,” he said, adding, “Perhaps that is why NC feels we are not doing politics—and they are right. We are not doing politics; we are focused on governance and on serving the people.”
