Nitin Nabin Likely to Be Elected Unopposed BJP Releases Schedule for National President Election

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday announced the schedule for the election of its new national president, with nominations set to be filed on January 19 and the official declaration scheduled for January 20.

According to the election programme released by BJP’s national returning officer K. Laxman, nomination papers for the post of party president can be submitted between 2 pm and 4 pm on January 19. Scrutiny of nomination documents will take place between 4 pm and 5 pm the same day, while candidates will have the option to withdraw their nominations between 5 pm and 6 pm.

Laxman, who is also a Rajya Sabha MP, said that polling would be conducted on January 20 only if required. The name of the newly elected BJP national president will be formally announced on the same day. The entire election process will be held at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi.

Party sources indicated that BJP national working president Nitin Nabin is likely to be elected unopposed, as no other senior leader is expected to enter the race. If elected, Nabin would succeed J.P. Nadda as the party’s national president.

Sources further said that Nitin Nabin’s candidature has the backing of the party’s top leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
