Srinagar, December 19: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has stepped up preparations for the upcoming Swadeshi Mela in Srinagar, with J&K BJP General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul chairing a high-level review meeting to finalise arrangements for the two-day event scheduled on December 20 and 21.

The meeting underlined the party’s commitment to empowering local artisans, craftsmen and small entrepreneurs, while aggressively pushing the Vocal for Local campaign aimed at strengthening a self-reliant Jammu and Kashmir. Leaders stressed that the Swadeshi Mela will serve as a powerful platform to showcase indigenous products, traditional craftsmanship and locally produced goods, reinforcing economic self-sufficiency in the region.

Senior party leaders, including J&K BJP General Secretary Mohd. Anwar Khan, J&K BJP Secretary Mudassir Wani, and District Srinagar President Sheikh Salman, participated in the deliberations. The meeting reviewed logistical readiness, artisan participation, public outreach strategies and coordination mechanisms to ensure the event’s grand success.

Party leaders said the Swadeshi Mela is not merely an exhibition but a strong economic statement, aimed at reconnecting people with local markets, boosting livelihoods and encouraging citizens to support home-grown products over imports.

The two-day event in Srinagar is expected to attract wide participation from artisans and traders across the Valley, reinforcing the message of economic empowerment, cultural pride and sustainable development.
