Jammu, Feb 11: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly witnessed heated scenes on the second day of the session after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s alleged “Jute pade hain” remark sparked a major uproar in the House.

BJP legislators strongly objected to the comment, terming it “unparliamentary and objectionable,” and demanded an immediate apology from the Chief Minister. As tempers flared, BJP members raised slogans and staged a walkout from the Assembly as a mark of protest.

Amid the chaos, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary intervened to restore order. Addressing the Chair, the Dy CM said that if Speaker A.R. Rather finds any remarks from either side to be inappropriate or against parliamentary norms, such words should be removed from the official records of the House.

Dy CM Surinder Choudhary emphasized the need to maintain dignity and decorum in legislative proceedings and urged members on both sides to adhere to parliamentary language.

The Speaker assured the House that the matter would be examined in accordance with Assembly rules. Proceedings were disrupted for some time before the House resumed.

Meanwhile, the BJP maintained its demand for an apology, stating that respect for parliamentary traditions must be upheld at all times.
