Qazigund, Feb 3: A massive fire broke out at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Qazigund on Tuesday morning, causing extensive damage to the school building.
Officials said the blaze engulfed the structure, gutting large portions of the school before it could be brought under control.
Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) personnel rushed to the spot and launched firefighting operations with assistance from local residents. Efforts were focused on dousing the flames and preventing the fire from spreading to nearby structures.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known, while an assessment of losses was underway at the time of filing this report.
