New Delhi: Brief panic broke out at Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Thursday after security personnel detected what appeared to be a human skeleton during routine screening.
The recovery immediately prompted an alert, and airport security along with Delhi Police launched a thorough check at the site.
Police officials later clarified that the item was a demo skeleton commonly used by medical students for academic purposes. The skeleton was found inside the luggage of a medical student, ruling out any criminal angle.
To remove any remaining doubt, Delhi Police said the skeleton has been sent for forensic examination. The analysis will scientifically confirm that the remains are a demonstration model used for educational training and not of human origin.
Authorities said the situation was quickly brought under control and there was no threat to airport security.
