Akhnoor, Jan 22: Security forces on Thursday launched a search operation in the Samah area of Akhnoor after a local youth reported spotting suspected individuals during the night, officials said.
According to official sources, a joint team of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Special Operations Group began searches after receiving information that three to four suspicious persons were seen moving in the area late Wednesday night. The information was shared by a local resident, prompting immediate ground verification by security agencies.
Early Thursday morning, multiple teams were deployed at vulnerable points across the Samah area, with a focus on Samah Nallah and adjoining pockets of the Sumah belt. Forested areas, nullahs, and possible movement routes are being thoroughly combed to rule out the presence of any suspicious elements.
Officials said checkpoints have been set up at key locations to monitor movement and secure the area. Additional personnel have been deployed to maintain vigilance and block any potential escape routes.
So far, no contact or recovery has been reported, and the operation is ongoing. Authorities said the situation is under control and urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security forces. They also appealed to locals to report any unusual movement or activity promptly, stressing that timely information is vital for maintaining security.
