Jammu , Jan 22 : The Jammu and Kashmir government will begin pre-budget consultations with Members of the Legislative Assembly from January 23 as part of preparations for the J&K Budget 2026–27.
According to an official notice issued by the Finance Department at the Civil Secretariat, the consultations will be chaired by the Chief Minister and are aimed at seeking suggestions and feedback from elected representatives ahead of finalising the budget.
The meetings with MLAs from the Kashmir Division will be held in three sessions at the Chief Minister’s Meeting Hall on the third floor of the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar.
The first session is scheduled for January 23 from 3 pm to 6 pm and will include MLAs from Srinagar, Budgam, and Ganderbal districts. The second session will take place on January 24 from 10 am to 1 pm, covering MLAs from Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, and Pulwama districts. The third session on the same day will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm for MLAs from Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora districts.
The notice further states that ministers, the advisor to the Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary, and administrative secretaries will attend the consultations. District Development Commissioners will participate in the meetings through virtual mode.
The pre-budget exercise is aimed at incorporating grassroots-level inputs and regional priorities into the upcoming budget for the Union Territory.
