New Delhi, Jan 21: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the continuation of the Atal Pension Yojana (APY) till the financial year 2030–31, along with the extension of government funding support for promotional, developmental and gap-funding activities.
Launched on May 9, 2015, the Atal Pension Yojana aims to provide old-age income security to workers in the unorganised sector. As of January 19, 2026, the scheme has enrolled more than 8.66 crore subscribers across the country.
According to an official release issued after the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, government support will continue for activities such as awareness campaigns and capacity building to further expand the scheme’s reach among unorganised workers.
Under APY, subscribers are assured a guaranteed minimum monthly pension ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000, starting from the age of 60, depending on their contribution levels.
